Passionate about knitting!

It took three people to teach me how to knit. The first time, when a friend’s mother sat me down, I just wasn’t very interested. The second time, I think I had simply had a little too much wine. Finally, one more brave soul made an attempt to share this art form with me, and she succeeded. The third time was, as they say, the charm.

That was nearly two decades ago, and the time since then has been a wonderful tactile adventure! Yarns and yarn colors – and therefore all the sweaters and jackets I knit – were so basic back then. I loved knitting anyway. Over time, two wonderful things happened: yarns evolved into combinations of colors and textures that are breathtaking works of art in their own right, and accessories became quite popular.

Once I began working with the new yarns, I found I could not – and did not want to – put them down. Creating original, artful accessories such as scarves, wraps, and shawls, became my passion. The feel of the knitting needles in my hands and the sound of their clicking; the texture of the yarn running through my fingers; the repetitive, soothing motion; watching a garment take shape and come into existence before my eyes…it’s one of the most powerful, gratifying things I experience. Best of all, it is one of my favorite ways to wrap others in soft comfort.

You can see my work -- along with all kinds of other fabulous, original gifts, works of art, and home decor -- in Reno at the stores listed above, and at passionknits.etsy.com. Please feel free to contact me at passionknits@gmail.com
